Solace

Why does one weep
When there was nothing left to keep?
Why does one cry
When fighting was futile?
The answer is clear
Since the shards are still near.
Piercing our lungs
The shattering has just begun.
Not the end was deadly
It was the hole that grew steadily.
Not was it the tears that drowned me
It was the ‘We were never meant to be’.
I grew suffocated by life.
Thus I began to thrive
For the solace of loving you
In another life,
Is the only thing that keeps me
From hiding back into my hive.
